Emo Christmas Tree

At Christmas, we wanted to have a beautiful tree for our reception area, to delight clients and spread joy.

But for many Christmas doesn’t bring joy. When many of us are celebrating, depression, anxiety and financial stress take a devastating toll on those feeling isolated or alone.

Like Christmas trees, which are cut down in their prime and dressed up for the amusement of others, social anxiety around people spending time in groups, having enough money, having the right food, presents, appearing good takes its toll.

We decided to give our tree a voice, powered by the Twitter search team of “Christmas” and “Sucks” with messages read as soon as they are tweeted, to remind us that not everyone has a festive Christmas.
